Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced YouTube Strategist to lead the day-to-day strategy, management, publishing, and optimization of a high-profile YouTube channel during a critical 10-week project surrounding a major fashion and entertainment event.

This role will serve as the dedicated YouTube lead, helping maximize the impact of key programming while identifying opportunities to strengthen channel performance, audience growth, engagement, and overall brand presence on YouTube.

The ideal candidate is both a YouTube platform expert and experienced social strategist who is highly organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and able to move seamlessly between strategic recommendations, hands-on channel management, publishing, optimization, analytics, and cross-functional coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day strategy and management of the YouTube channel throughout the engagement.
  • Develop strategies to maximize the performance and reach of YouTube Shorts and long-form/VOD content.
  • Identify platform-specific opportunities to drive audience growth, engagement, viewership, and channel health.
  • Develop YouTube-first content and programming recommendations based on platform best practices and audience behavior.
  • Partner with the Organic Social team to ensure YouTube strategy aligns with the overall social and content strategy.
  • Lead YouTube planning, publishing, and optimization for episodic content and supporting/derivative content.
  • Manage publishing and optimization of major event-related pre- and post-event content.
  • Own end-to-end publishing workflows across Shorts and VOD, including:
  • Titles and descriptions
  • Thumbnails
  • Metadata and tagging
  • Chapters
  • End screens and cards
  • Links
  • Other optimization opportunities
  • Manage YouTube platform functionality, including Premieres, playlists, Community posts, content hubs, chapters, and channel organization.
  • Coordinate content approvals and ensure all assets and publishing requirements are delivered accurately and on schedule.
  • Identify opportunities to extend the lifespan and value of existing content through repackaging, resurfacing, playlists, Shorts, and other YouTube-native tactics.
  • Conduct an audit and clean-up of the YouTube brand page to improve organization, discoverability, consistency, and user experience.
  • Maintain and optimize channel architecture, including homepage organization, playlists, content groupings, featured content, and navigation.
  • Monitor channel performance and content health and make ongoing optimization recommendations.
  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact with the YouTube team, coordinating platform recommendations, opportunities, approvals, technical needs, and event support.
  • Partner with Social, Creative, Production, Marketing, PR, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Manage timelines and dependencies across a high volume of content, proactively identifying risks, gaps, and opportunities.
  • Provide regular performance reporting and actionable insights.
  • Analyze key YouTube KPIs, including views, watch time, audience retention, engagement, subscriber growth, traffic sources, and overall channel performance.
  • Translate performance and platform insights into clear recommendations for immediate campaigns and longer-term YouTube strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of social media experience, with 5+ years preferred.
  • Significant hands-on experience managing YouTube for a brand, publisher, entertainment property, or similarly scaled organization.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and tight deadlines.
  • Comfortable working both strategically and hands-on, including publishing, metadata, playlists, and channel organization.
