The Role

Experienced Assistant Property Manager

Harland Property Management | San Diego, CA

Full-Time | $30–$32 per hour, depending on experience

Harland Property Management is seeking an experienced Assistant Property Manager who understands what it takes to succeed in property management.

This is not an entry-level position.

We are looking for someone who has already worked in property management, understands the demands of the business, and takes pride in getting the job done. The right person is dependable, organized, professional, hardworking, and capable of handling responsibility without needing constant supervision.

Property management can be demanding. Residents have problems that need to be solved. Vendors need to be followed up with. Maintenance issues cannot simply be ignored until tomorrow. Deadlines matter, communication matters, and details matter.

We want someone who understands that and thrives in that environment.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 3 years of professional property management experience preferred
  • Strong work ethic and a history of dependable attendance
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Takes ownership of problems rather than passing them along
  • Comfortable handling multiple issues and priorities at the same time
  • Strong follow-through — if you say something will get done, it gets done
  • Professional communication with residents, owners, vendors, and coworkers
  • Comfortable dealing with difficult conversations and resolving problems
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Able to prioritize urgent issues without losing track of routine responsibilities
  • Willing to learn our systems and way of doing business
  • Reliable, accountable, and consistent
  • Someone who wants a long-term position and an opportunity to grow with the company

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with day-to-day management of residential properties
  • Communicating with residents regarding maintenance, lease, payment, and property-related matters
  • Coordinating and following up with maintenance personnel and outside vendors
  • Monitoring open work orders and making sure issues are completed
  • Conducting property inspections
  • Assisting with leasing and resident move-ins/move-outs
  • Preparing notices and property management documentation
  • Following up on outstanding resident issues
  • Maintaining accurate property and resident records
  • Assisting the Property Manager with operational and administrative responsibilities
  • Handling problems quickly and professionally
  • Helping ensure properties are maintained to company standards

The Person Who Will Succeed Here

You will do well at Harland if you are the type of person who sees something that needs to be handled and handles it.

We value people who show up, work hard, communicate, solve problems, and take responsibility for their work.

We are not looking for someone who needs to be constantly reminded of deadlines or responsibilities. We are looking for an experienced professional who understands that property management requires urgency, persistence, follow-through, and accountability.

In return, we offer a stable full-time position with a growing property management company where strong performance and increased responsibility can lead to additional opportunities.
