Senior Litigation Attorney
Opportunity Summary
Mission Recruiting is representing an established California law firm seeking a Senior Litigation Attorney with 8–15 years of experience to join its growing litigation practice.
This opportunity offers a $160,000–$220,000 salary range, flexible work arrangements, and an approximately 1,600-hour annual billable requirement—an uncommon combination for an experienced attorney handling sophisticated litigation.
The practice includes trust and estate disputes, business litigation, and select civil defense matters. Trust and estate litigation experience is preferred, but accomplished civil litigators interested in developing this specialty are encouraged to apply. About the Opportunity
Mission Recruiting's client maintains a sophisticated litigation practice handling trust and estate disputes, business litigation, and select civil defense matters.
The position is designed for an experienced litigator who can independently manage complex cases while continuing to handle substantive discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, and trial preparation.
For attorneys interested in developing a specialized practice, prior trust and estate litigation experience is not required. Strong civil litigators with transferable skills will be considered and can receive training in this area.
The combination of sophisticated work and an approximately 1,600-hour annual billable requirement provides an opportunity for experienced attorneys to continue practicing at a high level while maintaining greater balance outside of work.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage sophisticated litigation matters
- Develop case strategy from inception through resolution
- Handle trust and estate disputes
- Manage business and other civil litigation matters
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Manage written discovery
- Draft substantive motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Prepare for and participate in mediations
- Handle settlement negotiations
- Prepare cases for trial
- Communicate directly with clients regarding strategy and case developments
- Manage litigation deadlines and competing priorities
- Collaborate with attorneys and litigation support professionals
Recommended Qualifications
- 8–15 years of litigation experience
- Active California Bar license in good standing
- Significant civil litigation experience
- Ability to independently manage complex litigation matters
- Deposition experience
- Strong discovery and motion practice experience
- Mediation and trial preparation experience
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Strong advocacy skills
- Strong client communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Trust and estate litigation experience
- Probate litigation experience
- Business litigation experience
- Trial experience
- Experience independently managing sophisticated client relationships
- Interest in developing or expanding a trust and estate litigation practice
