Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney


Opportunity Summary

Mission Recruiting is representing a confidential litigation firm seeking a Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney with 3+ years of civil litigation experience in Long Beach, California.

This primarily in-office opportunity offers $140,000–$160,000 in base compensation, with potential compensation up to $170,000 for exceptional experience, plus quarterly billable-hour bonuses and additional discretionary bonus potential.

The position is designed for a developing litigator who wants meaningful experience with depositions, expert witnesses, discovery, motion practice, court appearances, and trial preparation while working closely with experienced attorneys.

Medical malpractice or insurance defense experience is strongly preferred.


Compensation

About the Opportunity

Mission Recruiting's client maintains a litigation practice offering attorneys the opportunity to develop substantive defense experience while building toward greater trial responsibility.

Rather than limiting developing attorneys to research and document review, this role provides hands-on exposure to depositions, expert witnesses, discovery, motions, client communication, and court appearances.

Attorneys work collaboratively with experienced litigators while developing the practical skills required to independently manage increasingly sophisticated litigation responsibilities.


Responsibilities

  • Handle medical malpractice and related defense litigation matters
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Conduct expert witness depositions
  • Manage written discovery
  • Draft and respond to discovery requests
  • Prepare motions and pleadings
  • Draft substantive legal documents
  • Conduct legal research and analysis
  • Attend hearings and court appearances
  • Communicate with clients regarding case strategy and developments
  • Assist with trial strategy and preparation
  • Manage litigation deadlines and case responsibilities
  • Collaborate with attorneys throughout the practice


Recommended Qualifications

  • 3+ years of civil litigation experience
