Opportunity Summary

Mission Recruiting is representing an established Bay Area civil litigation defense firm seeking a Civil Litigation Attorney with 3–5+ years of experience to support continued practice growth.

This position offers a $100,000–$200,000 salary, depending on experience, a remote work arrangement for attorneys residing in the San Francisco Bay Area, and a transparent bonus structure above the firm's 1,850-hour annual billable expectation.

The attorney will handle a diverse civil defense caseload involving complex personal injury, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, premises and products liability, real estate, construction, landlord-tenant, and consumer litigation while maintaining meaningful responsibility for discovery, depositions, motions, court appearances, and trial preparation.

Compensation

• $100,000–$200,000 base salary, depending on experience
• Annual billable expectation: 1,850 hours

Bonus compensation for hours above 1,850:

• $35/hour for hours billed from 1,850.1–1,900
• $50/hour for hours billed from 1,900.1–2,000
• $65/hour for hours billed above 2,000

San Francisco Bay Area, California

Remote within the Bay Area

Attorneys work remotely but must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area and be available to attend hearings, depositions, court appearances, site inspections, and other in-person litigation events as required.

About the Opportunity

Mission Recruiting's client is expanding its civil litigation practice in response to increasing client demand.

The practice handles a broad range of sophisticated defense matters, including:

• Complex personal injury
• Wrongful death

• Unfair competition and consumer litigation

This is an opportunity for an experienced civil litigator to manage substantive aspects of cases while maintaining the flexibility of a remote work environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage discovery throughout the litigation process
• Conduct and defend depositions
• Draft motions, briefs, and legal memoranda
• Conduct legal research and analysis
• Develop litigation and case strategy
• Prepare matters for trial
• Present oral arguments
• Maintain regular communication with clients
• Attend hearings and court appearances
• Participate in depositions and other litigation proceedings
• Attend site inspections when required
• Independently manage deadlines and assigned matters
• Collaborate with attorneys and litigation support professionals

Recommended Qualifications

• Active California Bar admission
• 3–5+ years of civil litigation experience
• Deposition experience
• Case management experience
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to independently manage litigation matters and deadlines
• Must reside within the San Francisco Bay Area
• Ability to attend in-person litigation events throughout the Bay Area as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Civil defense litigation experience
• Trial or substantial trial preparation experience
• Personal injury defense experience
• Premises or products liability experience
• Real estate or construction litigation experience
• Experience handling complex, high-exposure matters
• Oral argument and courtroom experience
