Controller

Hands on Controller to support a growing small-to-mid-sized company. This position offers flexibility while providing leadership across accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and year-end preparation.

Flexible schedule

Approximately 25+ hours per week -Flex hours

On-site in San Jose, CA -

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations

• Prepare monthly and year-end financial statements

• Manage month-end and year-end close processes

• Support CPA firm with tax preparation and annual filings

• Ensure construction industry compliance and reporting requirements are met

• Assist with audit preparation and supporting schedules

• Monitor cash flow and financial performance

• Review and improve accounting processes and internal controls

• Support project accounting and job costing activities

• Maintain accurate financial records and reporting

Preferred Qualifications

• Controller or Accounting Manager experience within a small to mid-sized construction company

• Strong understanding of:

o Construction accounting

o Job costing

o financial reporting

o Month-end and year-end close

o Audit support

o Compliance reporting

• Experience preparing financial packages for outside CPA firms

• Ability to work independently and improve accounting processes

• Foundation Software experience is a huge plus

• Open to candidates with experience using other construction accounting software platforms
