Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day accounting operations, managing an eight-person accounting team across general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, billing, job costing, cash management, and fixed assets.
  • .Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and construction accounting standards.
  • Manage the monthly close process, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and variance analysis while identifying opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, job costing, project profitability, backlog, revenue recognition, and cost forecasting to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
  • Partner with project managers and operations to improve forecasting, billing, collections, and overall project financial performance.
  • Manage banking relationships, cash management, debt compliance, and working capital to support the company's financial health.
  • Establish and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures while ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate annual audits and work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, banks, sureties, and insurance providers.
  • Review customer contracts, change orders, billing terms, and financial risks to protect company profitability and cash flow.
  • Oversee payroll compliance, labor reporting, employee benefit accounting, and related regulatory requirements.
  • Drive process improvements, accounting system enhancements, and automation initiatives to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Develop and monitor key financial metrics, including revenue, gross margin, WIP, cash flow, accounts receivable, working capital, backlog, and departmental performance.
  • Mentor and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
