We are looking to add a Director of Operations to our Multi‑Business Portfolio (Hospitality, Storage, Multifamily, Senior Living, Leisure).


**This is an on-site role located in Rockford Illinois**


Director of Accounting & Finance

Multi-Business Portfolio (Hospitality, Storage, Multifamily, Senior Living, Leisure)

Location: Rockford, Illinois (On-Site)

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting & Finance to lead the accounting, financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, and financial planning functions for a diversified portfolio of businesses, including:

Hospitality

  • 67-room Candlewood Suites (extended stay)
  • 114-room Radisson (full service)

Leisure

  • Family entertainment park

Self-Storage

  • Approximately 2,700 units across 7 locations

Multifamily

  • 377 residential units

Senior Living

  • 117 units

This senior leadership position will partner closely with ownership to ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, improve financial processes, optimize cash flow, and support strategic growth initiatives across multiple entities. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to deliver financial insights that support decision-making and long-term value creation.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Oversee all accounting functions across multiple legal entities and business lines.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and management reports.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain chart of accounts, accounting policies, and financial reporting standards.
  • Lead annual audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Oversee fixed asset accounting, depreciation schedules, and lease accounting where applicable.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Develop and manage annual budgets, capital budgets, and rolling forecasts.
  • Analyze financial performance and key operating metrics across business units.
  • Prepare variance analyses and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
  • Support acquisition evaluations, investment analysis, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Develop financial models and reporting dashboards for ownership and senior leadership.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Oversee cash management, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
  • Monitor cash flow forecasts and working capital requirements.
  • Manage debt compliance, lender reporting, and covenant monitoring.
  • Optimize capital structure and financing strategies in partnership with ownership.

Internal Controls, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Establish and maintain strong internal accounting controls and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
  • Oversee financial risk management practices across all entities.
  • Coordinate insurance audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
  • Develop policies and procedures that support scalability and financial governance.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Lead accounting system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Improve reporting efficiency through automation and process redesign.
  • Standardize financial reporting and accounting procedures across the portfolio.
  • Partner with operations teams to strengthen financial visibility and accountability.

Team Leadership

  • Direct and develop accounting and finance personnel across the organization.
  • Establish performance expectations and professional development plans.
  • Build scalable accounting processes to support organizational growth.
  • Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Education & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Experience overseeing accounting for multiple entities, locations, or business units.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Experience managing external audits and lender relationships.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP, accounting systems, and financial reporting tools.

Preferred

  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience within hospitality, real estate, property management, self-storage, senior living, or multi-entity organizations.
  • MBA or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Experience with consolidations, intercompany accounting, and complex ownership structures.
