We are partnering with a well-established infrastructure / construction organization seeking an experienced Human Resources Generalist to support daily HR operations in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This role is fully onsite and offers the opportunity to contribute across a broad range of HR functions while supporting both employees and leadership.
Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist will support key areas of human resources, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, compliance, reporting, and employee records management. The ideal candidate will bring strong generalist experience, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and support the creation and updating of job descriptions
- Coordinate the recruitment process, including job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, offer support, and new hire documentation
- Lead onboarding activities, including orientation and benefits overview
- Support employee relations matters and assist managers with HR-related questions and issues
- Assist with benefits administration, including medical and retirement enrollment support
- Provide support during open enrollment and assist with leave administration
- Maintain accurate HR records and ensure confidentiality of employee information
- Prepare HR reports and assist with ongoing process improvement initiatives
- Support compliance with federal and state employment regulations
- Perform additional HR duties as needed
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a Human Resources Generalist role in construction
- Must have construction / union experience
- Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and employment law
- Experience supporting employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, and benefits administration
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- Strong professionalism, discretion, and ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Knowledge of regulations and compliance areas such as EEO, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, and related employment laws
Preferred Background
- 5+ years of HR Generalist experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in construction, infrastructure, or other field-based/service-driven environments preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Strong customer service mindset and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on business needs
