Role Description
Haven is looking for a professional HVAC Technician with the experience and enthusiasm to support our team. An ideal candidate for this position will have superior problem solving skills and a passion for air conditioning as well as develop and implement solutions for any technical problems and support the team as they prepare equipment for installation. This is a full-time, on-site HVAC Technician role based in Orange County, CA. The HVAC Technician will install, maintain, and repair residential and light commercial heating and cooling systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing equipment issues, performing troubleshooting on mechanical and electrical components, and completing preventive maintenance such as filter changes, cleaning coils, and checking refrigerant levels. The role involves working with basic plumbing connections related to HVAC systems, reading and interpreting technical diagrams and manuals, and following EPA and local code requirements. The technician will also interact with clients on-site, explain recommended repairs or upgrades, document work performed, and collaborate with team members and supervisors to complete projects on schedule and within quality standards.
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing HVAC system performance issues and identifying root causes of mechanical or electrical problems.
- Basic plumbing abilities related to HVAC systems, such as condensate line installation, drain line maintenance, and connections for heating and cooling equipment.
- Experience with preventive maintenance, including inspecting systems, cleaning components, replacing filters, and documenting routine service activities.
- Knowledge of electricity as it applies to HVAC systems, including reading wiring diagrams, using electrical testing tools, and working safely with live circuits.
- Understanding of EPA regulations and best practices for handling refrigerants; EPA certification or ability to obtain certification within a defined timeframe is preferred.
- Previous experience as an HVAC technician or in a similar mechanical trade role, ideally in residential or light commercial environments.
- Ability to use common HVAC tools and equipment, including gauges, meters, hand tools, and power tools, while adhering to safety procedures.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an HVAC trade school program, apprenticeship, or relevant technical training is beneficial.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation to job sites within Orange County, and eligibility to work in the United States.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical issues in clear, respectful language.
