Private Equity Associate: Tech-enabled Services

A leading private equity investment firm is looking to add a Private Equity Associate to its investment team in San Francisco. The role will focus on investing in tech-enabled services businesses within the lower middle market.

The Associate will work closely with senior investment professionals across the full investment lifecycle, with meaningful exposure to sourcing, underwriting, due diligence, transaction execution, and portfolio management.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate new investment opportunities within the tech-enabled services sector
• Build detailed LBO, operating, and financial models
• Conduct valuation and returns analysis, including sensitivity and scenario analyses
• Perform industry, company, and competitive research
• Lead and coordinate financial, commercial, operational, and legal due diligence
• Prepare investment committee presentations, underwriting materials, and transaction documentation
• Support deal execution from initial diligence through closing
• Participate in management meetings and calls with company executives, advisors, lenders, and other stakeholders
• Monitor portfolio company performance and assist with value-creation initiatives
• Support the team with market mapping, thematic research, and sourcing initiatives

Ideal Background

• 2–4 years of experience in private equity, investment banking, or a similarly rigorous transaction-oriented role
• Prior experience with M&A and/or LBO transactions
• Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities
• Experience covering technology, software, business services, IT services, or tech-enabled services preferred
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment
• High level of intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and ownership
