Senior Accountant

Role Description The Senior Accountant role at Almco Plumbing is a full-time, on-site position based in San Diego, CA. The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, payroll review, and bank reconciliations. This role prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, assists with budgeting and forecasting, and ensures accurate job costing and expense tracking for plumbing projects. The Senior Accountant monitors compliance with accounting policies and relevant regulations, supports internal and external audits, and collaborates with operations and management to provide clear financial insights. The role also involves continuous process improvement, implementing best practices in financial controls, and supporting leadership with ad hoc analyses and reports.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of general accounting principles and practices, including general ledger management, financial reporting, and reconciliations.
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processes in ADP, and cash management in a small to mid-sized business environment.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and solid skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to analyze financial data, prepare budgets and forecasts, and present findings clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Understanding of relevant tax regulations and compliance requirements; experience supporting audits is preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across finance, operations, and management teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
• Previous experience in construction, plumbing, or a similar trades-focused industry is highly beneficial.
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
