Job Responsibilities:

  • Providing detailed cost estimates for all phases of design, and in all trade disciplines, with a specialty in general contractor estimating.
  • Preparing take-offs and budgets for labor/material/ equipment pricing, performing labor production analysis, and determining general conditions and indirect job cost expenses.
  • Planning, preparing, executing, and presenting all cost models and milestone estimates throughout the various phases of design.
  • Providing the design team with accurate cost information for Design-Build projects, ensuring that the project is on budget and on schedule.
  • Providing value engineering and estimate reconciliations.
  • Evaluating proposals/bid documents to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Evaluating contractual requirements, attending pre-bid meetings, and determining scope of work and potential conflicts.
  • Assisting and leading the bid effort on behalf of the Owner, providing systems cost analysis, assisting with constructibility reviews, and providing input to the project schedule analysis.
  • Supporting the Estimating Team in the procurement of work and budgeting of projects
  • Coordinating the entire competitive bid process on projects as assigned.
  • Working with the Project Managers in the procurement and buyout phases.
  • Maintaining relationships with the local subcontractor community and negotiating with subcontractors/vendors on contracts and purchase agreements.


Job Requirements, Qualifications, Characteristics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, mathematics, finance or accounting, or related degree field. Related field work and construction experience is acceptable to count toward years of experience.
  • Conceptual estimating and a solid knowledge of various procurement methods including design-build, design bid-build, cost plus, CM at Risk, and Lease-Lease-back.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and LEED principles.
  • Experience in bid preparation and bid team management.
  • Ability to produce cost estimates quickly and accurately.
  • Other preferred skills include creative problem solving, strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, as well as a positive, “can-do” attitude.
  • Advanced proficiency with estimating software, including Microsoft Products, specifically Excel, On Screen Take-Off software, Blue Beam, Bid Software, and knowledge of BIM, Primavera, Assemble, and Autodesk
