Full job description
ABOUT IMPERIUM
Imperium Construction Services is a growing New York City general contractor and construction management firm specializing in high end commercial interiors, retail, fitness, wellness, and hospitality projects.
Imperium is entering an important stage of growth. We are building the leadership team, systems, and operational structure required to become a larger and more established construction company without losing the responsiveness and standards that built our reputation. The person joining us now will have the opportunity to help shape that next chapter, not simply step into a position that has already been defined.
This position is for an experienced Senior Project Manager who wants more than responsibilities of projects. It is for someone who wants to become a key decision maker and play a meaningful role in the growth of the organization.
THE ROLE
The role will initially consist of approximately 60 percent project execution and 40 percent team leadership. You will directly manage one or more projects while also overseeing and supporting Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Superintendents.
As Imperium grows, the right person will have the opportunity to develop into the Director of Projects based on performance, leadership, and the needs of the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Take complete ownership of assigned projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Manage project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting, commitments, change orders, and profitability
- Develop and maintain project schedules, procurement logs, submittal logs, RFI logs, and closeout plans
- Lead client, architect, consultant, subcontractor, and internal project meetings
- Identify risks early and develop clear recovery plans before they affect cost, schedule, or client confidence
- Manage subcontractor performance, coordination, manpower, quality, and contractual compliance
- Partner closely with Superintendents to maintain schedule, site coordination, quality, safety, and accountability
- Review the performance of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and Superintendents across assigned projects
- Coach and develop project staff while setting clear expectations and following through on accountability
- Provide leadership with accurate and timely reporting on project status, financial exposure, schedule risks, and required decisions
- Improve project management procedures, reporting standards, and internal systems as the company grows
- Maintain strong client relationships and represent Imperium with professionalism, urgency, and sound judgment
QUALIFICATIONS
- At least 10 years of construction project management experience
- Significant experience managing commercial interiors, retail, fitness, wellness, hospitality, or similar fast paced projects
- Experience with a general contractor or construction management firm, preferably one producing between $50 million and $150 million annually
- Proven responsibility for project financials, schedules, procurement, change orders, subcontractor management, and closeout
- Experience leading Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, and project support staff
- Strong understanding of construction documents, contracts, scopes of work, field coordination, and project controls
- Ability to manage multiple priorities without losing control of details or deadlines
- Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, and problem solving skills
- Experience with Procore and Microsoft Project is strongly preferred
- Based in the New York City area and available to work from the office and project sites
WHO WILL SUCCEED HERE
You will succeed at Imperium if you take ownership, communicate quickly, address problems directly, and understand that project leadership requires both financial control and field awareness.
You should be comfortable working in a growing company where your decisions will have a visible impact. You must be willing to execute the work yourself today while helping build the team and systems that will support the company tomorrow.
This is an opportunity for someone who wants to become a key leader within Imperium, contribute to the company’s direction, and grow into a larger operational role as the business expands.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Base salary of $165,000 to $200,000 annually, based on experience, leadership capabilities, commercial interiors experience, and demonstrated responsibility for project financial performance.
Annual performance bonus will be based on measurable results, including project profitability, financial reporting, schedule performance, change order management, client satisfaction, team development, and overall company performance.
Benefits include:
- Employer contribution toward medical insurance
- 401(k) plan with company match
- Paid vacation, sick time, and company holidays
- Company provided cell phone or monthly cell phone allowance
- Professional development and leadership growth opportunities
This position is designed to develop into the Director of Projects role based on individual performance, demonstrated leadership, and company growth.
Upon advancement to Director of Projects, the compensation structure will expand beyond base salary and annual performance bonus to include additional financial incentives tied to project team performance and the overall success of the company.
