Opportunity Summary
Mission Recruiting is representing a mission-driven labor and employment practice seeking a Labor & Employment Attorney with 2+ years of experience to join its Sacramento, California office.
This hybrid position (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) focuses on representing unions, workers, and employee benefit plans across public- and private-sector labor and employment matters. Compensation ranges from $103,000–$136,000+ under a transparent salary scale, with an additional discretionary bonus, profit sharing, and student loan assistance.
Union-side labor experience is strongly preferred, but attorneys from plaintiff-side employment, public interest, general litigation, or arbitration backgrounds with a demonstrated commitment to workers' rights are encouraged to apply.

About the Opportunity
Mission Recruiting's client maintains a labor and employment practice representing unions, workers, and employee benefit plans in matters across the public and private sectors.
Attorneys receive meaningful responsibility and manage an independent caseload while handling arbitrations, administrative proceedings, negotiations, legal research, briefing, and other advocacy.
The practice is particularly interested in attorneys with union-side labor experience but will consider candidates with transferable litigation, employment, arbitration, or public-interest backgrounds who can demonstrate a genuine commitment to representing workers.
Responsibilities
- Manage an independent labor and employment caseload
- Represent unions and workers in labor-related matters
- Handle arbitrations and administrative hearings
- Participate in negotiations and other advocacy proceedings
- Conduct substantive legal research
- Draft briefs, motions, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Develop legal strategy for assigned matters
- Communicate directly with union clients and workers
- Collaborate with attorneys and firm leadership
- Support labor and employment matters across public- and private-sector practice areas
Recommended Qualifications
- 2+ years of labor and employment or relevant legal experience
- Active membership in the California Bar
- J.D. from an ABA-approved law school
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Strong oral advocacy skills
- Strong client communication skills
- Prior union representation experience or a demonstrated commitment to labor and workers' rights
