Elder Law Attorney
Opportunity Summary
Mission Recruiting is representing an established New York law firm seeking an experienced Elder Law Attorney with 5+ years of experience to join its growing practice in Hauppauge, New York.
This onsite opportunity offers a $150,000–$200,000 salary plus a discretionary year-end bonus and focuses on Elder Law, Medicaid planning, asset protection, long-term care planning, crisis Medicaid matters, and estate planning.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney who enjoys sophisticated planning work and helping individuals and families navigate significant healthcare, financial, and long-term care decisions.
Compensation
- $150,000–$200,000 base salary
- Discretionary year-end bonus paid in December

This position is based exclusively in the Hauppauge office and is not a hybrid or remote opportunity.
About the Opportunity
Mission Recruiting's client has an established Elder Law practice serving individuals and families with Medicaid planning, asset protection, long-term care planning, crisis planning, and estate planning needs.
The successful attorney will advise clients on both proactive planning and time-sensitive matters, including Medicaid eligibility, nursing home and community Medicaid planning, asset preservation strategies, and Medicaid applications and appeals.
The role combines sophisticated legal planning with significant client interaction and the opportunity to guide families through consequential financial and healthcare decisions.
Responsibilities
- Advise clients regarding Medicaid eligibility and planning
- Develop asset protection strategies
- Create pre-planning and crisis Medicaid solutions
- Oversee Medicaid applications and appeals
- Counsel clients regarding long-term care planning
- Advise families regarding nursing home placement and related planning considerations
- Handle community Medicaid matters
- Counsel clients on estate planning matters
- Develop planning strategies based on individual client circumstances
- Work closely with clients and families navigating healthcare and financial decisions
- Maintain strong client and referral-source relationships
Recommended Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to and good standing with the New York State Bar
- Experience with Elder Law, Medicaid planning, estate planning, trusts, or estates
- Knowledge of Medicaid eligibility requirements and crisis planning strategies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong client-service skills
- Strong organizational and matter-management abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Substantial Elder Law experience
- Medicaid application and appeals experience
- Crisis Medicaid planning experience
- Asset protection planning experience
- Long-term care planning experience
- Trusts and estate planning experience
- Experience counseling families on complex financial and healthcare-related planning matters
