Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney
Opportunity Summary
Mission Recruiting is representing a confidential California defense practice seeking a Medical Malpractice Defense Attorney with approximately 2–5 years of civil litigation experience for its Los Angeles office.
This hybrid opportunity offers $120,000–$150,000, depending on experience, and the chance to represent hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in medical malpractice and professional liability litigation.
The attorney will manage an active caseload while receiving daily mentorship from experienced senior attorneys in a collaborative litigation environment.

The position initially offers one remote day per week, with the remainder of the workweek in the office.
About the Opportunity
Mission Recruiting's client maintains a defense litigation practice focused primarily on representing hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals in medical malpractice and professional liability matters.
The practice also handles premises liability litigation, providing attorneys with exposure to a broader range of civil defense matters.
This role combines independent case responsibility with regular access to experienced senior attorneys. It is particularly well suited for a developing litigator who wants to strengthen deposition, motion practice, case strategy, and professional liability experience while receiving consistent mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Manage medical malpractice defense matters
- Handle professional liability and premises liability cases
- Draft pleadings and substantive motions
- Manage written discovery
- Prepare litigation and case reports
- Take and defend depositions
- Conduct legal research and factual analysis
- Communicate with clients and insurers
- Work with experts throughout litigation
- Communicate with opposing counsel
- Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys
- Manage deadlines and an active litigation caseload
Recommended Qualifications
- Active membership in the California Bar
- Approximately 2–5 years of civil litigation experience
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to manage litigation matters and competing deadlines
- Strong professional communication skills

- Medical malpractice defense experience

Comparable civil defense litigation experience will also be considered.
