Complex Litigation Attorney
Opportunity Summary
Mission Recruiting is representing a confidential plaintiff-side litigation boutique seeking a Complex Litigation Attorney with 4–7 years of substantive civil litigation experience.
This primarily remote San Francisco Bay Area opportunity offers a $180,000–$225,000 base salary, with flexibility for exceptional candidates, plus discretionary bonuses, profit sharing, and additional performance-based financial upside.
The practice handles sophisticated antitrust, environmental contamination, commercial litigation, and tort matters. Attorneys receive substantial case ownership, direct client interaction, and the autonomy to independently manage significant litigation workstreams while collaborating with experienced attorneys and support professionals.
A defined path toward equity ownership over eight years provides additional long-term growth potential.
Compensation
- $180,000–$225,000 base salary

Attorneys must remain locally available for client meetings, depositions, mediations, hearings, and other proceedings as required.

About the Opportunity
Mission Recruiting's client is a lean plaintiff-side litigation boutique handling complex and sophisticated disputes.
The practice encompasses antitrust litigation, environmental contamination matters, complex commercial disputes, and tort litigation.
This is not a narrowly defined supporting role. The successful attorney will independently manage cases and major litigation workstreams, including strategy, deadlines, discovery, briefing, depositions, client communication, and coordination with co-counsel and experts.
The environment is designed for an attorney who values autonomy and substantive responsibility while still wanting access to collaborative colleagues and litigation resources.
Responsibilities
- Manage cases and significant litigation workstreams
- Develop matter plans and manage litigation deadlines
- Handle complex discovery
- Draft pleadings, motions, and substantive briefs
- Draft and respond to written discovery
- Prepare settlement and mediation submissions
- Conduct legal research and analysis
- Take and defend depositions
- Handle hearings and mediations
- Work directly with clients
- Coordinate with co-counsel
- Collaborate with partners on litigation strategy
- Work with experts, vendors, and paralegal support
- Independently manage client relationships and substantive case responsibilities
Recommended Qualifications
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
- 4–7 years of substantive civil litigation experience
- Exceptional legal writing and research skills
- Strong analytical abilities
- Strong oral advocacy and communication skills
- Experience managing sophisticated litigation matters or major workstreams
- Ability to manage deadlines and priorities with limited supervision
- Ability to communicate directly with clients and manage client relationships
- Ability to work independently within a collaborative litigation practice

Experience in one or more of the following areas is particularly valuable:
- Complex commercial litigation
