Inside Sales Representative

Position Summary

Hyspan Precision Products is seeking an Inside Sales Representative to join our commercial team in Chula Vista. You will be the point of contact for customers purchasing Hyspan standard products, and you will own that engagement end to end. The same person who takes the inquiry prepares the quotation, enters the order, coordinates it through production, and follows it to delivery.

This position handles a high volume of daily customer activity across a broad customer base. You will be trained and mentored by our Senior Inside Sales Representative and will work alongside our Application Engineering team. Product and industry training is provided; prior experience with our products is not expected.

About Hyspan

Founded in 1968 and headquartered in Chula Vista, Hyspan designs and manufactures metal expansion joints, braided flexible metal hose assemblies, ball joints, and slip joints for critical piping systems worldwide. Our products are found in naval vessels and submarines, power plants, refineries, data centers, semiconductor fabs, research laboratories, medical imaging equipment, and commercial and institutional buildings.

Hyspan is 100 percent employee-owned through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Manufacturing operations are in Chula Vista, California and Tijuana, Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Own assigned customer engagements end to end: inquiry, quotation, order, production coordination, and delivery
• Respond to customer inquiries by phone and email regarding standard products, pricing, availability, and lead time
• Prepare and issue quotations for catalog and standard-configuration products
• Enter and maintain customer orders accurately in the company ERP system
• Confirm order details with customers, including configuration, quantity, pricing, delivery, and shipping instructions
• Track order status and proactively communicate schedule changes to customers
• Coordinate with manufacturing, planning, shipping, and accounting to resolve order questions
• Identify inquiries that require engineering review and route them promptly to the Application Engineering team
• Support outside sales and manufacturers' representatives with pricing, availability, and order information
• Process returns, replacements, and reorders; maintain accurate customer and quotation records

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two or more years in inside sales, customer service, or order management, preferably in manufacturing, industrial distribution, or wholesale
• Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail in order or quotation processing
• Clear, professional written and verbal communication
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook
• Ability to manage a high volume of concurrent requests and prioritize independently
• Willingness to learn technical product information and terminology

Helpful, but Not Required

• Experience with an ERP or order management system (Sage, SAP, Epicor, NetSuite, or similar)
• Background in industrial products, piping components, valves, fittings, hose, or related mechanical products
• Ability to read basic mechanical drawings and dimensional specifications
• Bilingual English/Spanish

Hyspan develops people from within. Inside Sales Representatives who perform well can progress to Senior Inside Sales Representative. For those who develop technical capability and interest, there is a path into our Application Engineering group. Product training, technical training, and tuition support are available.
