Job Title: Factory/Production Manager – 3D Printing Farm
Location: Suffern, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $80,000–$90,000
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Factory/Production Manager to oversee the daily operations of our 3D printing farm. This role is responsible for ensuring efficient production scheduling, capacity planning, workforce management, inventory control, shipment logistics, facility operations, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes and factory performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in factory operations, fulfillment, logistics, or high-throughput production environments and possess excellent leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Management
- Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules to meet output targets and customer deadlines.
- Lead production sprint planning and ensure priorities are aligned with business needs.
- Monitor factory KPIs and implement corrective actions to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Labor & Team Management
- Lead, train, and supervise production, packaging, inventory, and quality control personnel.
- Manage staffing levels, daily assignments, attendance, and performance expectations.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Inventory & Materials Management
- Oversee inventory of finished goods, work-in-process inventory, filament, packaging materials, spare parts, and consumables.
- Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, and discrepancy resolution.
- Coordinate with suppliers and procurement to ensure timely availability of materials.
- Monitor material consumption and forecast future material requirements.
- Shipment Logistics
- Oversee outbound shipment planning and execution.
- Ensure customer orders are packaged accurately and shipped on schedule.
- Coordinate carrier pickups, shipping supplies, and fulfillment operations.
- Facility Management
- Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient factory environment.
- Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, and operational readiness.
- Manage storage areas, workspace organization, and facility improvement initiatives.
- Excel Workbook & Systems Management
- Maintain production planning workbooks, inventory trackers, KPI dashboards, and operational reporting tools.
- Ensure factory data is accurate, current, and actionable.
- Generate operational reports and support data-driven decision making.
- Special Projects & Operational Logistics
- Lead factory-related improvement projects and operational initiatives.
- Coordinate implementation of new workflows, systems, equipment, and process changes.
- Support factory expansion, scaling initiatives, and strategic projects assigned by leadership.
- Process Improvement & Factory Efficiency
- Monitor throughput, printer utilization, downtime, labor productivity, inventory accuracy, and shipment performance.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve factory efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production, inventory, logistics, and facility operations.
- Quality Assurance
- Ensure adherence to quality standards and implement quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with QA teams to resolve production issues and reduce defects.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions.
- Promote a culture of safe and responsible workplace practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in factory or production management, preferably in a high-tech or additive manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of production scheduling, capacity planning, and workflow optimization.
- Experience with 3D printing technologies is a strong plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
- GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- OSHA Safety Certification
- Fluent in both English and Spanish; able to effectively communicate with and support a bilingual workforce.
