Production Manager
Full job description
Hi, we're Speks, a New York-based product design company creating premium sensory products for teens and adults. We sell globally across wholesale, retail, and DTC, and we're growing fast.
We're hiring a Production Manager to help keep our global production operation organized, accurate, and on schedule. This person will work across our factories, internal teams, and major retail accounts to make sure every production milestone is tracked, every requirement is communicated, and potential problems are identified before they become delays.
This is a highly organized, execution-focused role for someone who knows how to manage a large number of SKUs, dates, approvals, and factory relationships at the same time.
This is a full-time, in-office role based in Midtown Manhattan.
What You'll Own
Production Scheduling & Tracking
- Maintain the production schedule across all factories and SKUs, keeping every date current and accurate
- Track CRDs, PP and TOP samples, packaging approvals, testing, inspections, and other production milestones through final sign-off
- Keep our internal systems updated in real time so the team always has an accurate view of production status
- Understand manufacturing lead times and dependencies and use that knowledge to keep production moving
Factory Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact with our factories, primarily in China
- Follow up consistently and push for timely, specific updates on production status
- Make sure product, packaging, timing, and quality requirements are clearly understood at the factory level
- Identify discrepancies between what was planned and what is actually happening and drive them toward resolution
Risk Management & Communication
- Catch delays, discrepancies, and potential production issues early
- Flag risks clearly and escalate issues before they affect customer delivery dates
- Keep the Director of Production and internal teams aligned on timing, changes, and outstanding decisions
- Follow through on open issues until they are actually resolved
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with design, sales, and operations so product requirements, packaging, production timing, and delivery expectations stay aligned from what is sold through what ultimately ships
- Coordinate with design on samples, specifications, packaging, and approvals
- Work with operations on inventory needs, replenishment, and delivery timing
- Make sure changes made by one team are communicated throughout the production process
Key Retail Accounts
- Manage account-specific production requirements for major retail partners including Target and Walmart
- Track customer-specific packaging, compliance, testing, timing, and delivery requirements
- Work with the sales and operations teams to make sure customer commitments are accurately reflected in production plans
- Support production requirements for global distributors and other major wholesale accounts
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in production management, operations, or supply chain within consumer products
- Experience managing physical product production across multiple factories and SKUs
- Experience working directly with Chinese manufacturers
- Experience managing detailed production schedules, samples, approvals, testing, inspections, and packaging
- Experience supporting major retail accounts such as Target or Walmart is strongly preferred
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Clear, persistent communicator who is comfortable pushing factories and partners for answers
- Comfortable managing a high volume of moving pieces without letting details slip
Who You Are
You are someone who always knows where production stands. You keep dates accurate, follow up relentlessly, spot problems early, and make sure everyone has the information they need.
You're comfortable working directly with factories, but equally comfortable coordinating internally with design, sales, and operations. You understand that strong production management is ultimately about making sure what was promised is what gets made and delivered on time.
Why You'll Love Working Here
At Speks, you'll join a small, sharp team in our Midtown Manhattan office. We move quickly, ship real products around the world, and work with some of the largest retailers in the country. You'll have meaningful ownership over an increasingly complex and important part of the business.
