Our client is a well-established real estate development company seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and serve as a key business partner to ownership. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly close process and prepare financial reporting packages
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations
  • Process biweekly payroll and maintain related reporting
  • Manage accounting and reporting for multiple LLC entities
  • Maintain accurate financial records and support cash management activities
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed
  • Partner closely with ownership on operational and strategic initiatives
  • Coordinate with external CPA firms, tax providers, banks, and other business partners
  • Support land acquisition, development, and project-related accounting activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and accounting systems


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience managing month-end close and full-cycle accounting responsibilities
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and financial statement preparation
  • Experience handling multiple legal entities preferred
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with ownership and external stakeholders


Preferred Background

  • Real estate development, land development, construction, or property-related industry experience
  • Experience with Timberline, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar accounting systems
  • CPA or CPA-track aplus
  • Prior experience in a small to mid-sized company environment where wearing multiple hats is required
