Role Description The Skilled Construction Labor role is a full-time, on-site position based in San Diego, CA. This role supports drywall installation projects from preparation through final finishing, including assisting with layout and metal stud framing, moving and staging materials, and helping with hanging gypsum wallboard and related components. Daily tasks include operating basic hand and power tools, maintaining a clean and safe work area, supporting taping, mudding, and texturing processes, and following instructions from forepersons and project leads to meet project timelines and quality standards. The position also involves loading and unloading materials, setting up scaffolding or work platforms as directed, and adhering to all safety protocols and company procedures. Skilled Construction Labor team members collaborate closely with crew members, respond to changing site conditions, and contribute to the overall quality and efficiency of each project.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in construction or drywall-related work, including basic framing, material handling, and site preparation.
- Ability to safely use common construction tools (e.g., drills, saws, measuring tools) and follow detailed instructions on layouts and installations.
- Familiarity with drywall installation and finishing processes, such as hanging, taping, mudding, sanding, and texturing.
- Strong awareness of job site safety practices, including PPE use, ladder and scaffolding safety, and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
- Reliable work ethic with consistent punctuality, attention to detail, and the ability to work in varying weather and physical conditions.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse crews, supervisors, and clients.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to job sites in and around San Diego, CA.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional trade training or certifications in construction or drywall work are a plus.
